Flipping Two Minutes has been released
Hi there,
you can now download the full version of Flipping Two Minutes, my little match 3 game for the Playdate.
A couple weeks ago I was watching videos of split-flap displays on YouTube while messing with match 3 mechanics to figure out if I can cook up something simple that doesn't feel like you’ve played it many times before. At some point I decided to change the UI of my prototype to match a split-flap display and, once I saw it running, realised that it provides the perfect match 3 mechanic as well. The result is a simple game that requires a good mix of strategy and luck to get a high score and, at least for me, is quite fun to watch.
To add a bit of longevity to the original mode I added a hard mode that swaps the gravity half way through which is both hilarious to watch and also requires you to adjust quickly. Rounding it up is an endless mode that’s perfect for younger players, for people wanting to learning the mechanics, and for everyone who just wants to zone out and see some numbers flip and slugs race.
I hope you’re having fun with this one. It’s Name your own price right now as it is a smaller game and I’d like for everyone to try it out first.
